Job Advert - Sessional Development Worker

JOB TITLE: Sessional Development Worker
LOCATION: Swansea, South Wales
HOURLY FEES: £10 per hour (freelance/ self employed position only)
HOURS/ CONTRACT 200 hours (project timescales to be agreed)

Talking Hands Deaf Children and Young People Service Is a registered charity (1162130), the organisation was established in 1999, we run services for Deaf Children, Young People and their families across Wales providing informal Education and social activities, mentoring and advocacy supports services.



Youth Activities

This projected is looking for a worker to develop a programme of events and activities for Deaf Children and Young People in South West and East Wales working with schools and families.

The activities will be fun with opportunity for Deaf Children and Young people to mix with their peers, have access to role models and develop their confidence and emotional wellbeing.

The aim of the events is to provide Deaf Children and Young people with social activities, opportunity to explore their culture and language to form their own identity, provide opportunities for families to meet and share experiences with access to positive role models as well as Deaf adults.

The events and activities will run during weekends and Schools holidays (dates to be agreed) with the aim of engaging Deaf children, young people and their peers in activities that they can continue to access through Talking Hands provisions developing the project into a long term sustainable programmes for children and young people developing their positive wellbeing and to become positive role models.


The Role

We are looking for worker to join our team - you must be prepared to be reasonably flexible to coordinate and deliver the events/ activities during the agreed timescale of the project period and be able to work around young people needs. This also includes visits to Schools, family groups and professional networking events.

Closing date for application is 12pm on Friday 26th February 2016 and the interviews will be held on Tuesday 8th March 2016

The successful post holder must be available for the training on 15th March and to begin the project soon afterwards.

The successful applicant will be responsible for their obligations to HMRC, and to comply with self employment regulations.
